PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
THE “FINAL FRONTIER” AND OUR FUTURE GETS NEAR...
The new California Space Enterprise Center in Lompoc, Ca near Vandenberg Air Force Base to Become a Positive Force for Private Space Enterprise, Exploration, Education, Responsible Sustainable Economic Development and an Exciting, Stimulating World Class Attraction
Lompoc, CA
The development of the California Space Enterprise Center (CSEC) has received a giant boost on the heals of the unanimous vote of support and recommendation of the Lompoc region Economic Development Committee, and the subsequent city council affirmative to engage in an Exclusive Negotiating Agreement (ENA) with the 40 year Environmental Education Group (EEG), non profit 501 c 3 International Foundation www. green2gold.org.
Lompoc Mayor John H. Linn describes “The California Space Enterprise Center is the most exciting project to come to the Lompoc Valley/Santa Barbara County region since the prospects of the NASA Space Shuttle launch program. It will provide local students with a path to College Degrees and Employment in Space industries, up to 250,000 additional tourists to the central coast and 3000 direct and indirect jobs in the Lompoc Valley when completed.”
The ENA was signed at city hall May 30, 2012, and allows for several stages of activities by EEG to plan the vision, creation, construction and long term operation of CSEC at a nearly 100 acre site next to Allan Hancock College in Lompoc, where a new California Public Safety training facility is also under construction. The site is owned by the city and set aside only for education, museum, and open space use, and originally was to be the location of the Western Space and Missile Museum and Science Center project, until the planned western home of the NASA Space Shuttle program was canceled in 1980’s. For more than 14 years the California Space Authority existed and one of its main projects was creation of the California Space Center on VAFB land. Unfortunately, all this effort ended in the dissolution of California Space Authority (CSA) and the California Space Center (CSC) in 2011.
Lompoc Mayor John Linn and concerned citizens explored options to keep this vital large scale project alive, and EEG had several years of involvement and MOUs for aspects of CSA efforts, and explored being the lead institution to carry a new vision of CSEC forward, based on a land grant/transfer from the city, as it had done with Allan Hancock College. The culmination of these many efforts is the ENA.
The impact of this project for Lompoc, Santa Barbara County and USA leadership in space is substantial: an independent Economic Impact Study was commissioned by CSA, and cited the following benefits of the quarter billion dollar project development over 10 years;
TOTAL ECONOMIC IMPACT: almost 2.5 BILLION
TOTAL JOBS CREATED: 3000
EEG’s CSEC vision will build on all the CSA’s efforts and resources, and feature a:
Green2Gold Space Enterprise Incubator
Science & Education Center
Museum
Conference & Exposition Center
Business Cluster
Rocket Launch Viewing Site
Entertainment
As well as more elements to encourage space development, be fun in the process of benefiting humanity and the planet, and be created in a wholly sustainable fashion, with green renewable energy, and exhibit an exciting showcase for new environmental and energy developments.
The CSEC is engaged in a dedicated program to design, raise financing from all possible resources, private and public, fund raiser events, sponsorships, and then create, construct and operate the largest project in Lompoc’s history since its forming in 1880.
A CSEC Citizens Advisory Committee representing a wide spectrum of sectors in the communities has been formed. Resources and talents are welcome to contact CSEC for possible involvement. A meeting for the CSEC Citizens Advisory Committee will be held at 7:00 PM on July 11, 2012 at the Lompoc Chamber of Commerce at 7PM. RSVP: Alan@Green2Gold.org.
